Kitamura brings a gigantic bento to school: His parents are on a business trip, so his grandma is taking care of him for the time being. While everyone else is happy to be allowed to eat from this bento, Takasu considers it a challenge to his own housewife skills; during the following days he tries to make creative special bentos in order to "beat" his mysterious opponent... before he learns what making bento is ultimately about.

On the first day of school, Ryūji discovers that he and Taiga, the meanest girl in class, share a secret: each loves the other's best friend.

Taiga's efforts to get closer to Yūsaku fail: A scheme in basketball ends with Taiga knocked out, and she drops a plate of cookies out a window.
